Sea Pet Omega 3 Fish Oil "200" with Natural Vitamin E

Now your pet can receive the powerful antioxidant benefits of 200 IUs of natural vitamin E per teaspoon in addition to the wonderful benefits of Omega 3 essential fatty acids from fish oils - 775 mg of EPA and 520 mg DHA per teaspoon. Additional information on the antioxidant benefits of natural vitamin E can be found below or click here for articles from the International Sled Dog Veterinary Medical Association recommending the supplementation of vitamin E.

"Scientists recognize that destructive molecules called free radicals cause or contribute to aging and age-related conditions. Many of these free radicals, however, can be controlled by a group of beneficial nutrients called antioxidants. Things like air pollution, UV rays and many human-made chemicals increase our free radical exposure.

"Vitamin E, an essential nutrient, is one of nature's most powerful free radical quenchers -- and the body's principal fat-soluble antioxidant. Much of the body's free radical damage occurs in fats, such as cholesterol, and in fatty membranes of cells -- exactly where vitamin E protects the body.

"As a major "chain-breaking" antioxidant (free radical scavenger), vitamin E halts the cascade of free radical damage in cells.* And as mounting evidence shows, the powerful benefits of vitamin E extend throughout the body." (*quoted from Cognis Corporation)

Natural and synthetic vitamin E have very different chemical structures. These differences account for why natural vitamin E is better retained by the body.

Natural source vitamin E is extracted from rich grains and seeds. D-alpha tocopherol is the naturally occurring form of vitamin E. The U.S. National Academy of Sciences has officially recognized that natural vitamin E is twice as potent and retained twice as well as synthetic. This means twice as much natural vitamin E reaches the blood and organs compared to synthetics.

"Antioxidants are a group of substances that protect tissues, cells and important compounds like proteins and DNA against the destructive power of oxygen and its relatives. Oxygen turns out to be a 'dangerous friend' in its role of helping produce free radicals in the body. Over time this damage adds up -- free radicals are thought to play roles in cancer, heart disease, arthritis, cataract formation, memory loss and aging just to name a few. Antioxidants can help fight off heart disease, cancer, age-related eye problems, and aging itself," according to Dr. Walter C. Willett, chairman of the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.
